Just super chums

A Fourth Form Friendship:  A school story.

By Angela Brazil.

Blackie & Son, London, nd (Edwardian by the looks).

According to the list of works by this author in the front, the Educational News said of it:

No girl could fail to be interested in this book.

And — even better news — one of the others in this series is The Nicest Girl in the School, which The Standard describes as ‘fresh and unusual’.

Well, there wasn’t much lesbian YA fiction around a hundred years ago, I suppose.

On an entirely different note: some blighter has torn out all but two of the illustrations, including the frontispiece which was titled ‘an alarming discovery’.

Damn them and their duck-ponds.
